About This Fundraiser
Hello, I am Sharon Jang.
For my birthday this year, TNKR hosted a fundraiser for me.
I am a North Korean defector who defected in 2011 and found freedom in 2012.
I was born in North Korea, and was adjusting to living here in South Korea. However, for a number of reasons, I began losing confidence and began having an identity crisis.
At that difficult moment, I happened to learn about Casey through Facebook. I asked if he could teach me English.
I joined TNKR as a student in March 2015 and also got to know the entire organization.
Mr. Casey is always smiling when he greets me. Ms. Eunkoo is a strict and warm mother. They are two mentors and people I can trust and rely on like family.
I have received so much help from those who believe and support TNKR. The volunteers serve with no money. Others give their money with love.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. Casey for setting up the birthday fundraiser for me and to the supporters who were interested enough to support me.
I will never forget the love I have received from you.
I hope to become the kind of person who can share with others and to serve others.
Thank you once again.
I love you and bless you.

I have learned that some of our donors would like to send gifts directly to TNKR students.
Some (BUT NOT ALL) of the students are on their own in South Korea, so some extra spending would be nice for them.
This isn't charity for them, just gift money from TNKR members and donors to TNKR students.
